So the ministry is basically saying the killings in Qatif happen when security forces defend themselves against terrorist attacks incited by foreign parties. Haven’t we heard this line before? Help me here: Was it Syria? Or Bahrain?

I couldn’t help myself from adding a quick bored response to current events, inspired by Fatima Al Banawi..
Just a couple of comments on Maram Meccawy’s latest column in al-Watan daily: while I don’t think that she has changed all that much, it seems to me that she has become more open about expressing some of her conservative views recently. But I do agree with her that the general atmosphere in the country has become more polarized. Not that I think this is necessarily a bad thing. As I have said before, after a long time of intellectual monopoly, this country could use more controversy.
